No-Poo Method: Week Two

I feel like a human grease ball. This week has just been rough.

As I mentioned in the last post, my scalp was itchy, so I was going to do a coconut mask.

Coconut mask: Saturate your dry hair in coconut oil before before and sleep with a towel over your pillow. Wash hair the next morning with Castile soap. Repeat washing until hair is less greasy.

My hair was still fairly greasy once I did this, especially on the nape of my neck, but I did not cave in and wash my hair with shampoo. My hair was basically greased down to my head for the first couple of days and then I washed it with water and it was suddenly less greasy. I have been washing it everyday with water and have noticed a bit of a change. My hair is still not as pretty as I want it to be, but that’s what hair ties are for.

What has worked for me? Using the boar bristle brush has helped significantly with the texture of my hair. It works to pull the natural oils throughout my hair, so I have had extremely soft hair.

How is my hair reacting? Dare I say that my hair is thicker? Whenever I washed my hair with shampoo, my hair would air dry in less than 30 minutes. As soon as I started the water only rinse, my hair takes up to 3 whole hours to fully dry. This is exciting for me, because I have genetically thin and brittle hair.

Will I continue this? Yes, I am half way through week three while writing this and I have some really good stuff to talk about in the next post. I do not plan on giving up just yet.
